Santee Gold Long Grain Rice is an heirloom rice with a distinct nutty flavor. It's non-gmo, all-natural and gluten free. Grown and milled on our family farm in Eastern North Carolina.

HISTORY OF SANTEE LONG GRAIN RICE:

In the mid 1800's, a group of farmers noted that their Carolina Gold Rice which they loved was longer and more slender than the original. Capitalizing on this naturally occurring “mistake”, farmers began replanting the new seeds to produce a long grain variety. This variety became known as Carolina Gold Long Grain Rice. What started as a local phenomenon became an international sensation earning international awards. Despite the fanfare, the variety proved increasingly hard for farmers to maintain and was eventually lost around the early 1900's. Lost until now...
