Spicewalla & KNOOK Handmade Chai Cups
Spicewalla & KNOOK Handmade Chai Cups
This isn't a chai cup (or kulhad) you tuck away in the back of the cabinet. It's the one you reach for first thing in the morning!
Hand-thrown on the wheel and hand-painted by Asheville-based Diana Hoover of KNOOK Ceramics, each chai cup is completely one of a kind ✨ that's right, no two are exactly alike, and there's something profoundly beautiful about each imperfection...just like there's beauty in all that makes us individual, unique, and different.
Each cup requires an incredibly hands-on process: Diana weighs the clay, throws it on the wheel, trims it, dries it, fires it, hand-sands it, applies underglaze using hard-edge techniques, glazes it, and fires it again. That's weeks of work poured into something that perfectly holds 6 oz of your morning chai (while warming your hands and heart) ❤️
The result? A cup that's beautiful enough to display but durable enough for daily use. It's dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand-washing to keep the hand-painted details looking their best for years to come!
This is a very limited-edition collaboration! Diana created these exclusively for Spicewalla, which means once they're gone, they're gone 🔥

What is a Kulhad?
It's a humble, hand-made, handle-free, clay drinking vessel used in India for chai! It's made to fit perfectly in your palms with a curved middle and bottom that tapers. When we started dreaming up a collaboration for our chai lovers, we knew we wanted to make a kulhad with someone local to Asheville...someone whose work felt as bold and intentional as our spice blends. We reached out to Diana with the dream to make our very own kulhad, and she said yes!
