Easy Mulled Wine

Cold night? Grab your favourite mug—it’s mulled wine o’clock.

This easy, aromatic recipe uses Spicewalla’s Mulling Spice to turn an ordinary bottle of red into pure holiday magic! Think cozy evenings by the fire with your house smelling like citrus, spice, & everything nice. 

With warm notes of cinnamon, clove, & orange peel, plus an optional splash of brandy for good measure, this spiced wine is equal parts comforting & celebratory. Serve it up for holiday parties, sip it while wrapping gifts, or make a pot to share with your favourite people. It’s the kind of recipe that makes winter feel downright wonderful!

  • Ingredients

    1 (750 ml bottle) Merlot or Zinfandel
    1 large naval orange
    ¼ cup brandy (optional)
    1 Tbsp honey
    2 Tbsp Spicewalla Mulling Spice

    Optional garnishes: fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, orange peel spirals

    Preparation

    1. Pour the red wine into a large pot over medium-low heat.
    2. Cut the orange in half, slice one half of the orange into ¼ inch rounds. Add the orange slices to the pot. Squeeze the other half of the orange into the pot. 
    3. Add the brandy, honey, and Spicewalla Mulling Spices
    4. Warm the wine until it just begins to steam, then turn the heat down to low 
    5. Cook for about 10 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning to your liking. 
    6. Serve in mugs with garnishes of your choice. 

    **Slow Cooker Method: add all ingredients to a slow cooker on low and cook for 30 minutes to 1 hour**
