Garlic Powder

$6.96
This finely pulverized dust packs an allium wallop, but with less of a sulfuric bite than fresh chopped cloves, so it’s an excellent option for adding a garlic note without offending eaters who aren’t huge fans. You can tell any fresh garlic snobs out there that the people of West China were preserving garlic centuries ago—though it wasn’t long before the root, which grows easily in most places, spread around the world. Another benefit of the powder? It’s easily dissolved into light-colored dishes like vegetable mashes.

Excellent spice! I just do not like the container. It’s hard to pull bag out and “dump” the spices back into the container-very messy with spice loss.

Garlic Powder Hardens

I truly love your spices and order all the time. I have a problem with my garlic and onion powder hardening after opening. Any suggestions?

Hi Julie,
We love hearing how much you love our spices but am so sorry you've been having problems with you onion and garlic powders. That kind of clumping and hardening occurs when moisture in introduced into the product and can sometimes be especially hard to manage if you live in a place with lots of humidity. This may sound a little strange but if this becomes a continual problem for you i suggest that you transfer your spices to an old shaker bottle and place dried beans or dried rice in with the spice itself and they should absorb any extra moisture and keep your spices from clumping. You want to keep the beans/rice in the container and only shake out the spice, so make sure you pay attention tot he size of the holes in the top of your shaker bottle before adding your dried beans/rice.
I hope This Helps

So Fragrant!

I heard about Spicewalla through a Goop article. I'm all about sustainable/organic/free-trade spices because you can tell the difference. They smell better, taste better, and build better dishes. I'm a foodie (and a health nut), so all of that is important to me. When I opened this garlic, the fresh, fragrant scent that hit my nostrils was absolutely divine. This is what garlic should smell like! It's potent enough that I'm considering halving my recipes going forward to see if I need so much. The only thing I wish is I could buy it in bulk. We go through a LOT of garlic powder and this itty bitty tin isn't going to go very far.
