Bartender spotlight: Matthew Morse

Born in Vancouver, WA, Matt Morse eventually landed in Asheville after exploring the Pacific Northwest. Moving around so much, Matt rarely had opportunities to spend the holidays with his family, but fell in love with the family he created at past jobs such as Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park.

While he looks up to some of the big names in the industry like Dead Rabbit or Death & co. , his true inspiration as a bartender and manager came from working with Katsumi Manabe when he lived in Portland. Matthew describes Katsumi as a humble manager, knowledgeable bartender, and a genuinely nice person.
